We are called to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ
Acts 28:30-31
Introduction: the purpose of Paul's life is to proclaim JESUS CHRIST! David Living Stone, Hudson Taylor, William Carey and several missionaries also feel that life is meaningful and worthy only when they live for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
1. We are called to preach. Why should we preach the gospel? (a) Preaching the gospel is the command of our LORD Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8). It is not a request, but a command, so if we say we are Christ's followers, we believe Jesus, then we must obey our LORD. It is the will of God (1 Tim. 2:4). (c) It is woe if we don't preach the gospel (1 Cor. 9:16; 2 Kgs 7:9). (d) Hell is real and heaven is real, so the unbelievers are pitiful (e.g. Lazarus and the rich man, Luke 16). (e) God is joyful over the salvations of sinners (Lk 15). (f) God loves us so we should love the lost souls (Jn 3:16). (g) A soul is worth more than the whole universe (Matt 16:26). (h) it is the power of God (Rom. 1:16).
2. The gospel of Jesus cannot be hindered. The book of Acts is ended with an open story or a continue story. The mission of the LORD continues unhindered. Paul's mission was hindered by many ways-persecution, shipwreck, internal enemies and external enemies. But God's plan cannot be stopped. It is always accomplished by the Holy Spirit through committed persons.
Conclusion: We should concern the gospel-ministry as first priority in our lives. We should commit ourselves to preach the gospel of Christ. God's plan will be fulfilled through us. We will be greatly blessed by proclaiming the gospel of Christ! Amen!
