The abundant grace of resurrected LORD
John 20:24-31
Introduction: the abundant grace of our Lord Jesus is clearly revealed in John Gospel from the beginning to the end. "Grace" is the main emphasis throughout this gospel.
1.The grace of our Lord is extended to the disciples. "Shalom, peace be with you" is a way of greeting in Jewish culture. But here, it is more than greetings; Jesus once again extended his grace to his disciples. They were full of worries-fearing Jewish leaders, losing hope and future. When Thomas doubts, the Lord forgives him and extends his grace, and gives chance. When we have burdens, Jesus extends his power and grace to us. "My grace is enough for you."
2.Resurrection of the LORD, and how will be our resurrection. It will be glorified bodies. It will be the body which is not subjected to space, suffering and pain, but it can still be touched. We can eat (Mark 14:25; Rev. 2:7; 22:1-3; John 21:12; Luke 24:42).
3.To believe in the Messiah is the purpose of the Gospel (20:30-31). If you reject someone's gift, it is a great sin. If you reject to believe Jesus it is a big sin. The purpose of Jesus' ministry and miracles is " you may believe the Messiah and you may have eternal life."
