Introduction: As a church grows, problems may arise. We should focus on the Holy Spirit's leading & inspiration. We should focus on Jesus to make a healthy church.

 

1. Be aware of the problems of the church. As the Jerusalem church grew, problem arose over distribution of food (table's service); it is financial problem. Today, it is same; many churches are facing financial problem & problem in service. But, problem should not be the end.

 

2. Solving the problem. The church chose 7 deacons to serve. The apostles proposed 3 qualifications for deacons (a) good reputation-well spoken of, men of high integrity and honesty. (b) Full of the Holy Spirit-Holy Spirit's guided and led persons. (c) Wisdom-to know what is right & wrong; to manage wisely, to lead people. This proposal pleased the congregation and chose 7 (all Hellenized Jews). Today, how do we choose church's elders & deacons?

 

3. Moving forward a healthy church. The 7 deacons served faithfully, justly & wisely according to God's will. The apostles devoted in prayer and preaching of the Word. The church is healthy and rapidly growing.

 

Conclusion: Let's seek the guidance and wisdom of God. Let's serve each other. Service is part of the church ministry and a strong means for church growth. Finally, let us devote to prayer and the Word, then God will make us (our church) healthy and growing.
