Intro: Paul was collecting offerings to help the needy in Jerusalem. But trials and suffering awaited him from Jerusalem. His friends, out of love, prohibited him not to go there. He knows it is the will of God to go there, he is ready to be bound and die for Christ.

1. Be wise to other's advice (12). Paul's friends, out of love, advised not to go to Jerusalem. Paul was wise, he accepted their love but chose to do God's will. Sometimes, advice from friend seems sweet, kind, and positive; still we need to pray and read the Bible and do the will of God.

2. Paul's commitment (13). Ready not only to be bound but also to die for Christ. The point of our living is for God's glory.

3. The will of the Lord be done (14). Doing God's will is the focal point of Jesus' ministry. The Lord's prayer emphasizes on doing God's will. Jesus' last prayer "your will be done." Suffering itself is not good. But God's will is done, sometimes, through suffering. The purpose of Paul's arrest is to preach the gospel to the whole Roman Empire, and specifically in royal palace.
