Justification is by faith in Jesus Christ alone

Acts 13:38-39

Introduction: Verses 38 and 39 are the conclusion of Paul's' preaching in Pisidian Antioch ("therefore" is a conclusion of the whole preaching). Paul, in his preaching, confirmed by several scriptural references that Jesus Christ is the Jew's long waited Messiah who rose from the death.

1. The greatest need of humankind is "personal relationship with Jesus Christ." Life is meaningless, empty and sorrowful without God. Jesus Christ is everything in our lives. But "sin" breaks our relation with Jesus Christ. Therefore, Jesus fully paid the wages of sins on the Cross (Rom. 6:23). Forgiveness of sin is possible only by and through Jesus Christ (not at all by our own deeds).

2. Our justification is founded on Jesus Christ. Paul encourages us that by believing in Jesus we are set free from our sins. He reminds us again that we cannot obtain justification by observing Mosaic Law. Justification is only by and through Jesus Christ (not our deeds plus Jesus).

Conclusion: Therefore, let us once again, realize that Christ has fully paid the wages of our sins because of his great love. We are forgiven, set free. By believing in him, we obtain justification, have personal relationship with Christ; thus our life is meaningful, hopeful and wonderful. But salvation is not the ultimate plan of Christ for us, but He wants us enjoy in his salvation and the blessings of salvation; and to live for His glory (That is a true Christian life). Amen!
