Introduction: God wants us grow as parents want their children grow. The Berean Church is a model for today's churches. Why did the Berean Church grow both in number and spiritual? At least we can clearly see two reasons.

1. Willingness or eagerness to hear the Word of God (verse 11a). The verse says "they received the message with great eagerness." It is a willingness to listen, to hear, to understand. The first step to grow in spiritual life is "to long for the Word of God" or to receive the Word with eagerness. Before, we really cannot enjoy in the God's Word, in prayer and in spiritual thing, we need to have "willingness."

2. Studying the Word of God everyday (verse 11b). if we have a will and a decision to read God's Word every day, God's Word becomes a spiritual food, which we can enjoy every day. God will give us the heart to enjoy in reading and studying the Word of God.

Conclusion: Without food we cannot grow, likewise, we cannot grow in spiritual life without God's Word. If we have a life to enjoy in God's Word our church (we) will grow both in number and spiritual. Moreover we will be blessed in many ways.
