God can turn our trouble to victory
Acts 8:1-8
Introduction: Sometimes, we are tempted to doubt God in times of trouble. We have many questions in our hearts-why God? Why me? What is wrong? But, let us keep in mind that God is still faithful and God to us, and He has a wonder plan for us.
1. God has a positive purpose in our trouble. Problem of evil (God is good, but the existence of evil prove that He is not strong enough to protect us. Thus, there is no absolute good and mighty God). Stephen was martyred, the Jerusalem church was persecuted. But God has the great plan in this trouble (1:8).
2. Keep trusting God in times of trouble. Persecution didn't stop the burning fire of the Holy Spirit, the mission zeal and faith of the believers. Philip was a good example. Instead of despair or disappointment, Philip put his trust fully in Jesus. He was unbelievably bold, powerful, eloquent and full of power and authority because of his faith, as he preached, healed people and performed miracles.
3. God turns trouble to victory. The result of keep trusting in God is victory, and God's glory. Many people received the grace, and got healed. The city was full with joy and God's glory.
Conclusion: Know that God can use positively our trouble for his great plan. If we trust God in times of trouble, we will see the glory of God. Amen!
