Dead to the law, and alive in grace
Romans 7:7-12
Introduction: A Christian life is not self-centered living on precepts and law, but it a living under grace by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.
1. The Law is perfect (verse 12). The law is holy, just, good and perfect; thus there is no problem with the law. However, it convinces our sins, serves as a mirror.
2. But man is sinful. Even though the law is good, it does not lead us to life, but lead us to death (verse 10). The problem is with man; we are sinners and can do nothing for our salvation. We cannot transform ourselves; and the law cannot transform us. Only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can transform us, because it has the power (Romans 1:16)
2. Living under grace by faith in Jesus Christ. When Jesus lives in our lives, we are not working, but Jesus is working in us. Therefore, we have nothing to boast both for our salvation and our good life. Apart from the Grace of God we have no good things (Psalm 16:2).
Conclusion: Let grace always work in our lives and transform us! May God bless you all!
