Christmas and Giving
Isaiah 9:6; John 3:16
Introduction: Christmas is a time of giving. God gave us his only begotten Son Jesus Christ so that we all will be freed from sin and receive eternal life and fellowship with God.
-
Why does God give us His Son? Because God loved us (For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son…John 3:16). God’s love is unconditional; he loves us while we are still sinners (Romans 5:8).
-
The motive of giving is love. The motive of giving should not be for self-glory and for some hope. But it should be pure love for Christ. (God loves us so He gave us everything). When you love someone, you want to give.
-
Let us choose to give. If you are the ones who always expect to receive something from others, your life will be too burdensome and tiresome. If you make submission to give, you will be happy and joyful.
Conclusion: The Bible tells us, “It is more blessed than to receive” (Acts 20:35). Magi chose to give their best gifts to the new born king Jesus. Let us choose to give more, to do more for the LORD! Amen!
